Cans for money??

Posted by lightning bug on 09/25 at 05:36 PM

My husband and I have been collecting soda cans and now we have quite a few saved.  We would like to turn these in somewhere to make a little extra money, but we have no idea where to go.  We are not from around here.  Anyone know about this?  Any info would be greatly appreciated so much.  Have a great day!

Look in the phone book for a recycling center in the area. There used to be one on Sumter Ave, but that was a long time ago. I doubt they are worth much at this time because of the economy, but at least they are not littering up the streets. Where I live all drink cans, bottles etc. have a 5 cent deposit on them so they are worth taking back. All states need to adopt the deposit law. It makes them cost more, but you get the deposit back when you return the empties and it does encourage recycling.

That is a good idea-not sure why SC doesn’t adopt a plan such as that-maybe it’ll help keep bottles cans etc off the sides of roads. Then again most litterers don’t care where they toss debris. Maybe the county dump could be setup to buy metal-aluminum cans and bottles. Maybe a county ordinance could be enacted that would charge 5 to 10 cents per bottle/can and pay whomever back for the return. Then again where do you find a trusted employee to handle the money.
