Coats where to donate?
My wife cleaned out a closet and we have about a dozen coats of different sizes (mens/womens)... any idea where I could drop them off so they could get distributed quickly?

That is the best place- the soup kitchen has been giving out warm coats, gloves and hats for a few years now; they do not accept other clothing, however, there is just not enough staff to maintain major donations.
The location is across the street from the Wesley UMC sanctuary on College Avenue; they serve from 11:30 - 12:30 Monday - Friday, that is the best time to drop coats and jackets off.
Thanks for being so generous, Washington!
Larger boys’ sizes and men’s sizes are always welcome at Billie Hardee Home for Boys in Darlington. They take donations of all gently used men’s clothing. Most of the boys are in the 14-18 y/o range.
Another place:
Children need to be warm: donate warm clothing and outerwear for all ages to The Kid’s Closet at the former Hartsville Junior High School on Carolina Avenue. All sizes are appropriate since some children have younger siblings at home that need clothing, and teenagers are just as big as adults. The drop-off can be after or before hours, according to board member of Carolina Kids LLC, “The Kids Closet is very excited to have a donation bin outside its doors on the porch for your clothing donations (behind the adult
education ctr-8th street side). The bin is checked and emptied almost daily. It is a new bin that is clean and dry so your donations will remain in great condition. Include your name and address with your donation if you’d like a form for your taxes.”
You could try the good people at the soup kitchen.
If they can’t take them, they would probably have a suggestion for a dropoff point.
