District Honor Roll Teachers Named
(DARLINGTON) Standing in front of a packed auditorium, Dr. Rainey Knight, district superintendent, recognized the 23 new Teachers of the Year. Then, as everyone waited with bated breath, Knight announced the five finalists for the District Teacher of the Year. These five finalists will be the 2010-11 Honor Roll teachers and will serve on the Leadership Council.
The 2010-2011 Honor Roll Teachers are:
Michelle Turner, a fifth grade teacher from Brockington Elementary Magnet School
Dr. Deborah Walters, an English/language arts teacher at Hartsville Middle School
Tiffany Besch, a second grade teacher from Pate Elementary
Jennifer Long, a third grade teacher from St. Johns Elementary School
Ashley Taylor, a fifth grade teacher from West Hartsville Elementary
The five finalists were chosen from the 23 School Teachers of the Year and will make up this years DCSD Teacher Forum. Together, these teacher leaders have more than 350 years of classroom experience. The School Teachers of the Year are:
