School district administrators are already gearing up for the beginning of school. The Darlington County School District has announced the schedule for registration for the 2011-2012 school year.

Parents/guardians should bring a current proof of residency containing a street address to registration. An electric/gas bill, water bill, or tax notice will meet the proof of residency need. Parents/guardians should check with their local health department or physician for current information about immunizations. Parents/guardians will also be asked to provide e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers for emergency contacts and for the school district’s rapid notification system, SchoolConnects.
Parents of children who have never attended Darlington County schools should bring their child’s birth certificate, social security number, and immunization records.

Information on bus routes will be available at registration. Students who plan to ride the bus should visit the bus tables during registration to sign up for bus services.

All registration sessions for elementary, middle and high schools will be open from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 6:00 p.m. at the home school, unless otherwise noted.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS: Though parents may have completed registration packets in the spring, they still need to attend registration to receive important information. All elementary schools in the Darlington County School District will hold registration on August 2, 2011.

MIDDLE SCHOOLS: Darlington Middle School and Spaulding Middle School will register students in all grades on August 2ND and 3rd. Hartsville Middle School will register incoming sixth graders on August 2 and rising seventh and eighth graders on August 3.

HIGH SCHOOLS: Lamar High School will hold registration for 11th and 12th graders on August 2 and for 9th and 10th on August 3. Darlington High, Hartsville High, and Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology will divide the registration by grades. Rising 12th graders will register on August 1, rising 11th graders will register on August 2, rising 10th graders will register on August 3, and rising ninth graders will register on August 4.

DARLINGTON COUNTY INTERVENTION SCHOOL (DCIS): DCIS will hold registration from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. August 1-4. Registration will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. each day. Because of the amount of information covered, no one will be allowed entry after 10:15 am. There is also a registration fee of $25.00 and parents/guardians are required to attend orientation with their child. At DCIS, students in grades 6-8 should register on August 1, students in 9th should register on August 2, students in 10th grade should register on August 3, and students in grades 11 & 12 should register on August 4.
