Dixie Youth league championship games held tonight
HARTSVILLE – Dixie Youth baseball leagues wound down with playoff games Thursday at Byerly Park and awards ceremonies at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Friday.
In the Minor League, Sonoco defeated Foxes Corner 25-3 and advances to the second-half championship game tonight.
Sonoco will face the Masons at 5:30 p.m. tonight. The Masons won the first half championship, so, if they win tonight, they will be crowned champions of the season. If Sonoco pulls off a victory, the teams will face off beginning 6 p.m. Monday in a best of three series.
In the Major League, Civitans routed Kiwanis 8-0, nearly pitching a no-hitter as Kiwanis had only one man on base in the final inning.
Civitans, who won the first half championship, will play at 5:30 p.m. tonight against Rotary. If the Civitans win, they will be crowned champions of the season. If Rotary pulls off a victory, the teams will face off beginning 6 p.m. Monday in a best of three series.
On field one, there will be an awards ceremony at 6 p.m. for the Instructional and Farm Leagues with the awards ceremonies for Minor and Major Leagues following their games.
