Graphic Students Win PICA Awards, Set New Record
(May 18, 2011)—Darlington County Institute of Technology Graphic Communications students recently earned Best of Show among other awards at the annual Printing Industries of the Carolinas (PICA) competition. They also won two “Best of Catergory Awards” and three “Special Judges Awards”. In doing so, they set a new record of excellence.
The PICA competition is an annual event for the students. Led by instructor Gary Hayes, the DCIT students competed against students in North and South Carolina in Offset Printing, Screen Printing, Digital Printing, brochures, newsletters, and other printed materials. This year’s “Best of Show” win is the fourth such PICA award for the program, the only school program to ever earn so many “Best of Show” awards.
