Hartsville Today Update
Mark Laskowski, Matt Broughton and I met last week to discuss the work needed on Hartsville Today as well as to establish a timeline for some of that work. Our approach to reinvigorate the site will start with things that should make the greatest impact and are the quickest to achieve, so people will see some real results.
First, thumbnails of the latest photos posted on the homepage will be added within the week. This will add visual interest to the homepage that is so desperately needed.
In the next two weeks, Matt said he should have the stories link to photos.
The ability to edit posts will be the next goal, but we have been advised that this will be challenging and may take awhile to figure out the technical issues. The community calendar will be the next feature addressed after the ability to edit posts because it will be another challenging item.
From the promotion side, each member of The Messenger news staff will post at least once a week to the site. This is a minimum, and I encourage the staff to post more or comment/interact. You may have already noticed our additional posts.
We are looking into duplicating the yellow cards that were distributed to the public when the site was initially launched as well.
Jim Faile also located The Messenger’s Hartsville Today banners. We are looking into ways to display these that are in keeping with the city’s signage laws.
We will keep you posted as things progress.

Lisa, thanks for all the hard work you and your staff are putting in to make bring HVTD back!
The recent photos banner helps and I’m looking forward to more improvements soon!
