Hartsville’s Lyles selected to play in Futures Game

Hartsville native Jordan Lyles has been selected to the play in the All-Star Futures Game next month in Anaheim, Calif.

The game features prospects from all over the minors. It will be played July 11 at Angel Stadium, two days before the Major League All-Star game and will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 6 p.m.
The 19-year-old Lyles is in his first season of Double-A with the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The right-hander is 6-4 with a 2.37 ERA in 14 games this season.

Lyles has struck out 78 in 87 1/3 innings and walked just 20. 

Lyles also has been selected to play in the Midwest League All-Star game June 30.

Several stars from last year’s Futures Game are in the majors, including Atlanta’s Jason Heyward, the Rangers’ Neftali Feliz and Cleveland’s Carlos Santana.
