HHS flooding problems??

First, let me say that I am so thankful for all the rain we have had this summer.  Thank the Lord for that!  On another note I wanted to know if there is anyone else out there with concerns about the HHS flooding?  My daughter recently went to Hartsville High this summer for a camp which during the camp we had a wonderful down pour that flooded the parking lot, road, fields and band room.  The students had to call their parents to come and get them early b/c of this.  When I showed up to get her, it had stopped raining but I could not even pull into the parking lot.  I would like to know how some of the teachers left there.  When I tried to procede into the parking lot it was over my tires in water!  The road right outside the parking lot was just as flooded.  My daughter said they had to put sand bags at the doors b/c water was coming into the band room.
I told my husband about it all and he said that some people in Hartsville said it has been like that for a long time.  Is this not a concern for the high school?  I would think there would be problems of molding…what are your thoughts or info on this problem?

I know what your talking about. I graduated from HHS in 2009 and went there for 4 years. The flooding is horrible. Not only the parking lot floods but so does the side walks that lead to the other buildings. I remember walking through 2 and 3 inches of water and having to walk around school all day with wet jeans and wet shoes. I really think HHS should be concerned with this problem. I’m sure if HHS can afford to build a new gymnasium they can afford to look in on the flooding problem as well. I’m glad you brought this up. Thanks.

It has been like this for over 40 years.
This is a very low area. When we have a lot of rain it starts flooding from Carolina to the High School.
The City came out about 5 years ago pumped out the drains it had leaves and trash in them. I guess it has got full again.
Need to build a larger drain line to the one on the west side to the big ditch at Magnolia Crematory.
