new forum software
Is there any way to see the new articles since you have last logged in? there is most viewed and most commented but either i’m missing “new” articles or it isn’t there. it’s kind of hard to “keep up” with this software

Just an observation (more of my behavior than the Expressions software), I frequently find myself perusing the posts without having logged in. The Drupal version made signing in the easiest way to view the posts.
I also really miss seeing who is visiting the site when I am here. It provided some sense of community. It’s funny how very subtle differences can create a completely different experience.
Is there any way to make that “Notify me of follow-up comments?” box default to unchecked? I plan on coming back and don’t want email clutter. It is a small annoyance to have to uncheck it before submitting a comment.
Matt has made a chance so that the posts you already have clicked on change color once you have clicked through to them. As long as you use the same browser and computer, that will effectively show you what is new from the last time you checked

If you were more of a regular maybe they would listen to your requests. Until then just post and enjoy. I bet you don’t see this because you unchecked the box, didn’t you ? Visit more often. I enjoy reading your posts, even if I don’t really understand most of what you say. Take care. Happy Thanksgiving.
How about a way to reply to a certain post(er). My local paper has a reply button , when you click on it, the original post shows up in your response so people know what (who) you are responding to.
Ted: Well, for others it might be a small annoyance to have to check it
So not sure what to say to that?
Kingfish: We listen to everyone, no matter how much of a “regular” they are - and Ted has been a regular since almost the beginning,
Not sure if the commenting configuration can be changed. Will ask Matt. But please understand if this ends up a little lower on the priority list while we get the photos, calendar and some other major issues out of the way.

Oh yeah! The color change on the visited links works great. Now if we can only figure out how to make CSS line up the left margins on the bulleted lists.
Don’t worry about that kingfish character, he’s allowed to say rude things to me. G rated only, of course!
And he’s right, I had unchecked the box. Not that it hurt. I came back just like I said I would. (now I’m gonna check that box again, it’s as fun a throwing rocks.)
Can we get the text enlarged ? It is hard to read the small text.
Perk:
We’ll see about that down the road. But for now, you can control the font size in your browser. Just hit CTRL and + to enlarge font (CMD + in the Mac) and CTRL and - to make it smaller.
Doug
The most viewed and most commented lists have been pretty static for the last two weeks. You might consider putting up a list that links to the most recent posts and posts with the most recent comments.
Ted:
All that is under consideration. I’ve had to pull back for a bit to get end-of-semester grading done. Matt and I will be discussing where we’re at on this stuff shortly.
Doug
The new articles are displayed for every category right on the front page now. There’s no way to individualize it so that it can tell what you’ve done vs. what someone else has done.
The old system on Drupal did not have that ability either. It did change your link color once you clicked on a link if you had your browser set up to do that (that’s usually the default browser behavior). So it gave the impression it was tracking you when it really wasn’t.
I do notice the links don’t change color on the curerent HVTD homepage after you have clicked on them. I’ll ask Matt if that can be changed. Then, if you are logging in regularly, your browser should at least show that you already have looked at a link.I don’t know, however, if that is possible with this software.
