My wife has a bunch of clothes to donate.  A while back someone posted a couple places.  Can you please repost (these are not like sweats, tshirts) they are nicer than that.  i keep collecting garbage bags of them (i now have three and need to get them out of the house)... any help appreciated.

Washington, if these clothes are suitable for business attire, they can be donated to the Hartsville Chamber. They are in the process of creating a wardrobe closet (so to speak) for women who need appropriate clothing for job interviews, etc. but cannot afford the cost. I’m sure Sharman or Jana can give you more info.

Other types of clothing can probably go to the Salvation Army or Habitat thrift shops.

the Chamber of Commerce isn’t ready to receive business clothing for women yet, but we’ll let folks know when that is up and ready! It’ll be a great resource for women returning to the workforce, stay tuned!

Habitat for Humanity is now accepting only household items, bedding and fabric, furniture and building supplies- no books or clothing.

In the meantime, Washington, here’s some great places to check out:

Free Medical Clinic of Darlington County (843) 398-0060 (Darlington) or (843) 332-0422 (Hartsville) (they may have folks that need clothing)

Pee Dee Coalition Hartsville 843-383-0240

Darlington County Disability and Special Needs Board 843-332-7252

Coats, hats, mittens, gloves may be donated to the Hartsville Soup Kitchen Mission on College Avenue, but there is not enough room for other clothing.

Red Cross of the Pee Dee Phone:  843-662-8121 http://peedee.redcross.org/

Children’s clothing may be donated to the Carolina Kids Closet- open every Tuesday from 10am-4pm; it provides clothing to needy school children, free of charge. It is located on the Thornwell School for the Arts Campus in Hartsville.  The contact number is: 843-229-8689 http://www.daphnescarolinakids.org

I donate my clothes to the Sunshine Shoppe in Chesterfield.  It’s a nice resale shop, and the proceeds benefit Hospice.  Plus all the workers are volunteers.  They have a great selection that is constantly changing, plus they have many new items, like cards, jewelry and small gifts.

Any donation is tax deductable.

It’s on main st in Chesterfield, big storefront, like it used to be the local 5 & 10.

BTW, the sunshine shoppe takes all types of clothes, shoes, mens, women’s and childrens. Books too. They even have a formal wear section.  All itmes must be in good condition, and clean.  They don’t want things that can’t be resold, like stained items, or items that need repairs (broken zippers, etc).

Also, the library will accept book donations.  If they don’t need it, they hold it until the annual friends of the library book sale.  Then they are all sold, and the funds go toward the library fund.
Thanks.
