Rescue Group Needs Help

Below is a note I received from the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue Fund. Please take a moment to read and/or pass along to those who may be interested.

Currently Darlington County Humane Society has several urgent and critical cases.  We seem to be getting in a high amount of special needs pets that desperately need our help and your support.
Please take a look at the sweet pets below and consider giving a tax deductible donation to DCHS.  The pets in our care are counting on all of us to give them a helping hand to get them healthy and find them safe placement.  As always - we sincerely appreciate your ongoing support!  Thank you and have a great night!
Sincerely,
Barbara Tilton

Blunt Force Trauma - Needs Surgery Soon!
Erin is a sweet 20 pound stray female that was found as a stray.  She came to the shelter along with 3 of her siblings.  Poor Erin has most likely been hit by a car.  She has injuries from blunt force trauma to her rear end.  The ball of the femur has broken off of one hip.  The other side has trauma as well, but nothing is broken.  This baby girl is in incredible pain.  The vet has recommended removing the ball that has broken off and any dead bone (an FHO surgery - Femoral Head Ostectomy).
We need to raise the funds to get this sweet baby pain free.  We would also like to raise the funds for her Basic Vetting (spay, vaccinations, hw test and de-worming).  This way she will be fully sponsored and a lot more appealing to rescues.  Please help us to help Erin!
We have raised $135 for Erin so far, but still need another $400 for her!
Severely Neglected Peke With Ruptured Eye!
Esther is a very sick but incredibly sweet female Pekenese that came into the shelter recently.  A very upset woman brought her in - she had paid $5 for Esther at a flea market in Florence (just to get her away from the moron carrying her around!) and brought Esther to the shelter to get the help that she so desperately needs.  Esther is very weak, starved, neglected and only 18 months old.  She has one ruptured eye.  The shelter staff were appalled by Esther’s condition and very concerned about her.  She was immediately taken to the vet for evalutation.  The vet determined that Esther needs to have one eye removed, as it is beyond salvation.  The other eye is extremely bad as well, but she will be given drops 4-5 times a day in the hopes of saving it.  She will need these drops for the rest of her life, or she will go permanently blind in that eye.  :(  We are desperate to raise funds for sweet Esther so that she can get on the road to recovery and hopefully a rescue soon.  Please help us to get Esther pain free and happy.  Hasn’t she suffered long enough?!?!
$300 is needed for her eye surgery and $135 is needed for her Basic Vetting (spay, vaccinations, hw test and de-worming) for a total of $435.

Renting Cargo Van - Bound for Wash, DC!!!!
We have had so many dogs marked for rescue this week that we need to rent a cargo van and drive the dogs to their rescues in the Washington, DC area.  Our van leaves early Saturday morning.  We are desperate to raise all of the funds to make sure that we can afford to rent the van and pay for gas!!!!
$600 is needed for the trip.  We have raised $295 so far!  Only another $305 is needed for this trip to happen.  PLEASE help us to get these beautiful dogs safely to their rescues!!!

Heartworm Positive Senior Needs Treatment!
Dazzle is a beautiful senior black lab that came to the shelter with her mom, Granny.  She has three strikes against her—she’s black, a senior, and heartworm positive.  Sadly for Dazzle that is almost surely a death sentance.  We are trying to raise the money for Dazzle to be treated for heartworm to make her more appealing to rescues in the hopes of saving her life.  A wonderful supporter of DCHS has already sponsored Dazzle for her Basic Vetting so that she can leave the shelter for a pre-approved rescue for free.  Please help us to ensure a safe and happy future for this older gal!  We only need to raise another $55 for Dazzle to be able to have her heartworm treatment!!!!
Thank You
Thank you for considering helping one of the pets at DCHS.  The volunteers and staff at the shelter are working so hard to become a no-kill facility and to provide medical care to all of the pets that need it.  In our rural community we see so many abuse and neglect cases like Erin and Esther.  Without your kindness and generosity they would surely face euthanasia.  Thanks again!
Checks can be mailed as well.  Please make checks out to “DCHS” and mail them to:
