H. Jordan: I hope you meant to say “dinner” rather than “diner.”
According to the online version of Webster’s Dictionary, a diner is defined as:
Main Entry: din·er
Pronunciation: \ˈdī-nər\
Function: noun
Date: 1815
1 : a person who dines (as in a restaurant)
And some restaurants also use the word ‘diner’ for their establishment.
I’ve been patient with many others here with your grammatical and spelling errors, but now have to wonder, how did you ever graduate from HHS with this level of writing skill that you have shown us? What kind of teachers does the school have in the English department?

Jimmy,

I believe this young lady has already responded to your concerns once and, if I remember correctly, she pointed out that she knew how to use correct English but preferred to write “informally” on her texts. I agree that using proper English and grammar skills are important for the impression one gives to others and I wish the young lady felt the same. However, I think it is unfair to blame her teachers for a choice she is making.

Hartsville High has a fine English department with exceptional and dedicated teachers.

Thanks,
Audrey

Let’s focus instead on the content of Heather’s post. Though I missed the spaghetti dinner, I heard it was delicious and I appreciate Heather posting the information. That’s exactly the type of information we need on our community forum.

Audrey: This is the first time I’ve ever commented on Heather’s spelling errors, etc. I’ve refrained from doing so in the past while others have made comments. Her writing is no reflection on the excellent teachers at HHS; English is obviously not her best subject.
I do wish I’d seen this announcemet earlier. Spaghetti is my favorite food! I hope the dinner went well for everyone.

Sorry, Jimmy, I knew someone had commented on her style of writing before. I apologize for pinning it on you. I agree with you, a good spaghetti dinner can’t be beat!
