Spend some time with Your Account

I encourage you to go into the Your Account feature of the site in the upper left.
In there you will find lots of options for managing your account, including the ability to set your time zone, set preferences on who can send you private messages (and the ability to block people) and unsubscribe from comment threads where you had clicked the “notify me of new comments” post.
