where did the post go

There was a discussion about Sunday Blue Laws in this section…seems to have disappeared.

Not in most views or most comments this month either.

Interesting…..

Wow, Is this censorship in action?

Doug Fisher says:

No censorship on this end. Not sure what happened to it, though the original author can delete a post.

I thought it was a good discussion, too.

i have no problem with the original author being able to delete his/her post…but why were the rest deleted?  any other software i’ve seen would just show the original message as deleted.

i’ll just start another thread.. smile

Sorry for whatever happened here.

I just don’t have the options under this software that I had under the old system to get under the hood and track things down.

For instance, if we delete a user, we usually have to move all the person’s posts to a dummy account called “deleted.” But we can delete individual posts and then the account, making it all go away. Makes no sense to me.

Thanks for agreeing to restart the thread.

I’m on the road and so will be out of touch for much of the next couple of weeks. Don’t think less of me if I don’t respond immediately to any comments.

Oh well, the only worthwhile discussion we’ve had here in months and it was accidentally deleted.  Between the problems registering and the constant supervision of anything even remotely interesting this poor site will continue to barely exist.

Doug Fisher says:

Not sure what the problems registering are - if you use a valid e-mail and make sure hvtd.com is not going to your spam folder, I usually get back within 12-24 hours, and usually quicker than that. You should see the e-mail and be able to log on.

As for “constant supervision,” what do you mean? As far as I know, I am the only one administering the site, and I pretty much leave hands-off, except for deleting the dozen or two spam account requests I get almost every day.

Media General, admittedly, has neglected the site, but as I’ve said from the beginning, it’s not the paper’s but yours. It’s what you make of it.
