First year teachers from Darlington High School, Pate Elementary School, and Thornwell School for the Arts have been chosen as finalists for the Darlington County School District’s Outstanding First Year Teacher award.
It’s not too late to apply for DCSD’s ArtSummer, a program which provides intensive and individualized instruction for talented student actors, vocal or instrumental musicians, and visual artists.

The Darlington County School District will hold registration for the four-year-old child development program and the five-year-old kindergarten program on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. at the primary and elementary school sites.

While high school graduation rates for most of South Carolina’s public high schools – and for the state overall – dropped on the annual state school report cards released Thursday, the Darlington County School District improved its graduation rate to the fifth highest in the state among all 86 public school districts – compared to 20th last year - and the highest among all Pee Dee school districts.
