School District Holds Kindergarten Registration for 2011-12

The Darlington County School District will hold registration for the four-year-old child development program and the five-year-old kindergarten program on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. at the primary and elementary school sites.

District leads region on report cards, grad rates

While high school graduation rates for most of South Carolina’s public high schools – and for the state overall – dropped on the annual state school report cards released Thursday, the Darlington County School District improved its graduation rate to the fifth highest in the state among all 86 public school districts – compared to 20th last year - and the highest among all Pee Dee school districts.

District may cut positions to offset $5.1 million revenue shortfall

Darlington County School District officials are proposing the elimination of 20 employee positions, 18 of them teaching positions and two district level positions, as they attempt to deal with the anticipated loss of more than $5.1 million in revenue for the coming budget year.

The Darlington County School District’s annual “Principal for a Day” program will be held October 13, 2010. The district is looking for community members who are interested in seeing what really goes on in our schools in a hands-on situation.
